Very interesting potpourri of ideas. Now I’ve got to see The Wonder. You’ve got me very curious. About waiting and patience, there is too much and too little. Where did my patience go? If you can answer that, I would be very thankful.
I actually have the Killers of the Flower Moon book but never read it. You’ve planted a seed. Almost like the poppy seeds you write about which takes us full circle.
A lovely issue, Heather. 1.) Being a Californian, I always keep several packets of California poppy seeds and other CA wild flower seeds on hand. I send them out in birthday cards and Xmas cards to friends in other states to scatter in their yards or pots. My friend in Virginia says every morning she looks out the window to see which new flower is saying hello to her from California. She says it makes her think of me all the time. Nice to know! 2.) Any time I have to wait, I make up stories about people. Standing in line at the bank, I choose a man, check out how he is dressed, how he stands. I give him a funny name, decide where he was just before he came in and where he will go next, where he works, who he is married to... etc. Great fun and it gives me ideas for stories. Maybe that is silly, but I am a person who NEVER gets bored. Creative subjects today, Heather. Thank you.
I have been looking at Okanagan Valley and the lake. Yes....a piece of heaven! Thank you so much for leading me down that path! The photos I was looking at showed what appeared to be vineyards. Is it a wine region? If you would ever like to write about your piece of heaven for After 21 Club, let me know. Readers would love to see your photos and get the perspective of a local.
The valley has approximately 9,000 acres of vineyards, making it Canada's second largest wine producing region. Only the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario is larger. It represents roughly 85% of British Columbia's wine production spread out over 185 wineries.I'm in Kelowna. I should write about the area - great idea! I'll start thinking about a local post with pics.
Kelowna is beautiful! You're right on the lake. I imagine you love it there! There's never anyone better than a local to share the imagery of their world.

Excellent work!
Let me know what you think of The Wonder.
I'm really looking forward to the movie version of Killers of the Flower Moon, since it takes such a different approach.
As far as patience goes...sometimes I have it...and sometimes not so much. You, too?
On a separate note...I hope you got my email with the interview questions for your book. I sent it to your Substack address.

Both of your ideas are SO lovely!
I can just imagine your friend in Virginia enjoying her beautiful flowers in her garden and thinking of you. So special.
What a fun idea to imagine the life of a stranger. I'm definitely going to try that the next time I'm waiting.
Thank you for sharing your ideas. 💚
Nice! 1) I quite like poppies. We have them all through our piece of heaven (the Okanagan Valley in BC Canada.)
2) Have you ever tried to flip an iPad over when trying to cheat on a test? It just flips back to upside down. LOL
I'm going to look for photos of your hood. Sounds lovely!
I'm a PC kid. Sorry for your loss!
