I've always loved little free libraries, and we have a few in my area. Such a great way to gift the joy of reading to others, and prevent books from being thrown away.
Sad to see the disheartening comment below, but glad to see the other positive comments outweighing it.
clearly you need a life if you have this much free time to splooge your self-obsessed twaddle over my inbox. multiple substacks chock full of income from paying suibcribers. wowzer.
LFLs are often vandalized in the whitaker. used to donate but covid taught me not to touch other people's dreck. I think print books squander a metric crapton of resources to produce and deliver info. time to evolve.
You're right, covid changed a lot of things for everyone. I can imagine that the LFL's all over the world were hard hit by that.
2.2 billion people under the age of 25 have no home internet access. It may be harder for them to evolve. I'd love to get your ideas for the best solution for them.
I visited your Substack and noticed that you wrote about Shuggies in the Mission District in SF. My daughter lived in Dog Patch for 12 years (a mile or so away) until she got priced out (no rent control on her rental). Are you in that area?
I love this letter today! First of all, the free libraries which I routinely donate to as one is around the block from me is awesome, and I never knew the backstory. Thank you!!!
And then to see and read Mitchell's work was the best. That guy brings a lot of game to our table, and in so many ways.
Finally, I've always been curious about bees. I actually like them and am not afraid of them, but I would like to understand more about how they do life, self-organize (if they do), etc. You've reminded me that I need to follow up on this curiosity. Thank you
Hi Jill. Thanks for donating to your little free library. Such an easy way to make a difference. I thought it was so cool that Todd Bol honored his Mom with the first one and then look what happened!
Hi Heather, nice to e-meet you! I found you via Mitchell who was inspired by both of us :D Great that you published his guest post and AI generated image. I love the revival of that fashion trend. My baby will soon be three months and you inspired me to wear my peblum with flouncy ruffles again. I have one in white and one in black for business and wear them with a royal blue skirt. Talk soon, Kristina
Leave it to you to know that SUPERSTITIOUS has 13 letters....the mind of a puzzle maker at work!
Those are some cool ideas for using AI. I wonder if I could use it to solve Sprocket....hmmm.
If you make a burger in your Krups you definitely need to post a picture.🍔
Thanks, Mitch, for being the guest this week.
haha...I want to see that picture!
OMG, I like them all! You've just invented 'waffle buns'. And I thought you had cats?
^^ Wow! Waffle buns
Hi Heather, I, for one, am looking forward to seeing the Kindness Magnet back - we certainly need to be reminded of kindness given this week's events.
Thanks, Janice. It has been a struggle to put any thoughts on paper this week. KM should be back in another week. I appreciate the thought.
Hi Heather,
I sure know what you mean about the struggle to put thoughts on paper this week, Take care.
Kindness is key ❤️

I'm sorry that the 13th had such unhappy memories for you.

Thanks so much for your comment, Emily. I feel the same way about books.
We all have choices.
Have a nice weekend.📚

No George Forman grill here, but I did give a salad spinner as wedding gift to a friend who has one.
(Did I just now add to the totality of useful knowledge in a meaningful way, because I think maybe I didn’t.)
Oh, ha ha, Mr. Switter. I think you contributed to a little levity and that can be very useful, especially now. Long live the salad spinner. 💚

Mitchell is a man of many talents! He was so gracious to agree to do a guest post this week. Did you see his AI interpretations of him making burgers with his Krups waffle maker? If not, here's the link. If you're interested in learning more about bees, The Honey Bus combines a good story with some 'bee lore'. I did a very mediocre job of describing the book. It's much more than what I wrote. There's also an amazing story of bumblebees fighting Asian hornets in this week's Good News Network. Those bumblebees are pretty crafty: https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/bumblebees-are-hitting-back-at-asian-hornets-with-top-tier-combat-skills-reveals-research/?utm_campaign=newsletters&utm_medium=weekly_mailout&utm_source=12-10-2023

Hi Kristina. Nice to 'meet' you too! Congratulations on your little one. And 3 months is such a cute age.
I bet you look great in peplum - love the color combinations!
Mitchell is good peeps. Right now he has me puzzled with his intriguing Sprocket Thistle Manor. Thanks for introducing him to DALL-E 3. 😁
